The Sharks have selected a settled squad for their landmark season-opening NRL clash with defending premiers Penrith at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday (Australian time).

Local junior Sam Stonestreet has earned first crack at the wing position vacated by Sione Katoa, who is out long-term after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Stonestreet will notch up his sixth NRL game, with eight tries already to his name.

Having impressed in his lone Pre-Season Challenge appearance, star recruit Addin Fonua-Blake will officially make his Sharks debut in the front row.

Coach Craig Fitzgibbon has the benefit of continuity in his group, naming the same top 17 that defeated the Raiders in their final trial earlier this month.

Cronulla are eager to flip the script on the Panthers, who scored a 26-6 victory over the Sharks in last year's preliminary final en route to a fourth-straight title.

After a four-day camp in Los Angeles, the Sharks touched down in Las Vegas on Monday evening (PST) as they finalise their preparations for Round 1.

Kick-off is at 3.30pm AEDT on Sunday (8.30pm Saturday PST), with all the high-octane action to be broadcast live on Fox League, Kayo, Nine and Nine Now.
