Eleven of the greatest players to represent the Sharks will be welcomed into the club’s newly established Hall of Fame in an illustrious ceremony at Sharks Stadium on February 18, 2025.
The five Sharks Immortals – living legends Gavin Miller, Andrew Ettingshausen and Tommy Bishop, as well as the late Steve Rogers and Greg Pierce – will earn entry to the Hall of Fame alongside six other Cronulla champions to be revealed during a prestigious black-tie dinner.
An esteemed selection committee, led by club historian Ashley Taylor and featuring Miller, Ettingshausen, Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta, chairman Steve Mace and News Corp journalists Phil Rothfield and David Riccio, followed strict criteria to decide upon the inaugural honourees.
Sharks Members and fans will have the opportunity to witness history and pay tribute to giants of the game, with ticketed seating available in the ET Grandstand with prime viewing of the on-field proceedings.
Sharks Members will be offered special pre-sale access from 11am on Wednesday, December 11 via Ticketek until the public sale begins at 2pm. Book early to avoid disappointment or contact the Sharks corporate team for details on private suites and hospitality for the event.
Media personalities Yvonne Sampson and Andrew Voss will host the evening, which will also include a live performance from 2024 Australian Idol winner and Sharks superfan Dylan Wright.
Mezzatesta said: "Our Hall of Fame will recognise absolute greatness; players who have given their heart and soul for the Sharks and left an indelible mark on our proud club and the game of rugby league.
"While we've previously honoured five Immortals, it was important to broaden the scope and ensure we had a process to formally acknowledge more of our legends.
"The Hall of Fame & Immortals presentation will rank among our club's most momentous occasions as we toast to some of the finest ever to wear the black, white and blue.
"We look forward to marking this new chapter in the history of Sharks where excellence is celebrated and legends are immortalised."
To be considered for the Hall of Fame, a player must have met four of the following five criteria:
- Demonstrated exceptional performance on and off the field
- Been an international Test representative. (Including Rugby League World Cup matches)
- Played State of Origin
- Played 100 first-grade games for the Cronulla Sharks or won a premiership with the Club.
- Received a Dally M Medal, NRL-recognised award (e.g. Dally M positional award, Provan Summons Medal, Rothmans Medal, Ken Stephen Medal) or a Porter-Gallen Medal/Sharks Player of the Year award.
The Hall of Fame's introduction comes almost 22 years after Ettingshausen, Miller and Rogers were inducted as the first three Sharks Immortals – the all-time best of the best – at an emotional gala function in 2003. Pierce and Bishop earned Immortal status in 2005.
