Long-time Sharks at Kareela member Shirley received the ultimate rugby league prize last night when she was drawn as the winner of the Sharks' Win a Trip to Vegas promotion.
A local who pops into the club most days, Shirley was ecstatic when her name was picked from a barrel of entries by former Sharks captain Dale Finucane in front of a buzzing crowd.
Shirley has opted to gift the prize – including two return flights from Sydney to Las Vegas, four nights' accommodation on the famous strip, Diamond tickets to Allegiant Stadium to see the season-opening Cronulla v Penrith NRL clash and the entire footy line-up, plus AU$2000 spending money – to her Sharks-mad son and his partner.
NRL star Blayke Brailey and the Minespec Parts Mermaids were also on hand for the occasion, adding to an electric atmosphere at Sharks at Kareela. Shirley wasn't the only winner, with several cash prizes given away in the lead-up to the major draw.
