Dodd, Penitani earn Jillaroos selection

Sharks duo Tiana Penitani and Quincy Dodd have been rewarded after stellar NRLW seasons with selection in the Jillaroos squad for the Pacific Championships.

Dodd is in line to make her international debut, with the hooker announced as one of five rookies in Australia coach Brad Donald's 21-player group.

Cronulla captain Penitani, meanwhile, is poised to wear the green and gold jersey for the first time since 2019, the centre having represented Tonga last year.

The pair have been instrumental in the Sharks' success this season, culminating in yesterday's courageous Grand Final defeat to the Roosters at Accor Stadium.

The Jillaroos will face the PNG Orchids at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on Friday, October 18 and defending champions the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns at Apollo Projects Stadium, Christchurch, on Sunday, October 27.

Ali Brigginshaw and Kezie Apps will co-captain Australia.

"The squad is a good reflection of where the women's game is at right now," Donald said.

"We have a great balance of experience and youth in this squad, and (it) highlights the depth of talent available.

"A broader squad came together at camp in January and outlined their aspirations leading into 2026 Rugby League World Cup, including player expectations for on and off-field standards.

"I feel this camp raised expectations and competition for positions this year, and puts us in a very healthy position for the Pacific Championship and beyond."
