Sharks sweep into finals - in all four grades

In a display of the strength of the Cronulla club throughout the different teams and grades, the Sharks will contest three games next weekend, while their partner club in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup the Newtown Jets have also qualified for the Grand Final, representing an outstanding result for all concerned.

The NRL Sharks booked their place in the preliminary final with a win over the Cowboys on Friday night and will now prepare to tackle the Penrith Panthers for a place in the Grand Final.

In the NRLW, despite a narrow loss to the Tigers last Thursday, a victory by the Sydney Roosters in the final game of the round ensured the Sharks' participation in the finals series and they will now take on the Broncos in Brisbane to also qualify for the competition decider.

While in the Jersey Flegg and Knock On Effect NSW Cup, the under-21 Sharks continued their winning streak and the Jets scored a narrow win, both victories coming against the Raiders, with the two teams to play in their respective Grand Finals next Sunday.

Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta was understandably proud of the efforts of players and staff from all teams and is excited about what lies ahead.

"The fact that we are still involved in four competitions will make for a huge weekend for our players, coaches, support staff, our members and fans and for the entire club," Mezzatesta said. "No other club can match the success we've enjoyed to this point in the season.

"To be playing two Grand Finals and two Grand Final qualifiers is a massive achievement and great reward for all the hard work.

"It is also testament to our commitment to the Sharks being a development club and to putting the structures in place throughout the various grades, from our pathways teams through to the NRL and NRLW.

"We now look forward to next weekend and to Sharks members and fans supporting all the teams at these big end of season matches."

Details will be confirmed, however what is locked in is a Sharks NRL prelim final against the defending champion Panthers at Accor Stadium on Saturday night. That game is scheduled to get underway at 7.50pm, the victor to play the winner of the Storm v Roosters match in the Grand Final on Sunday week.

In the NRLW, after a flying start with six wins to kick off their season the Sharks in just their second year in the premier women's competition have qualified for the finals in fourth position following the nine home and away rounds. The Sharks now move on to play the Brisbane Broncos for a place in the NRLW Grand Final, that match to be played in Brisbane at 2pm next Sunday.

As for the Jersey Flegg Sharks, their remarkable late season run continued with an emphatic victory over the minor premiers in the Raiders, the win seeing the under-21 Sharks qualify for the competition decider against the Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium on Sunday. That game is set down for an 11am kick-off.

While last but certainly not least, the Jets snuck home in a tense prelim final, winning by two points against Canberra. Newtown now plays traditional rivals the North Sydney Bears in clash kicking off at CommBank Stadium at 3.00pm on Sunday.

All game and ticketing details for the various matches will be available on the Sharks website and through club social and digital channels once confirmed.
