Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta and legends Paul Gallen, Luke Lewis and Alan Wilson completed the Kogarah-to-PointsBet Stadium leg of 'Royce's Big Walk' on Monday, raising money for dementia research.
Founded by Panthers champion Royce Simmons after his Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2022, this year marks the third annual edition of Royce's Big Walk in support of Dementia Australia. The 300km journey began on August 6, with Simmons visiting eight NRL clubs across the Sydney region while meeting footy friends along the way.
The incredible 10-day charity trek will conclude on Thursday, August 15 at BlueBet Stadium ahead of Penrith's blockbuster clash with Melbourne.
Upon arriving at PointsBet Stadium, Simmons and the Sharks crew were given a warm welcome by well-wishers before enjoying a morning tea function.
Gallen stayed on for the next leg of the walk to Bulldogs HQ at Belmore alongside his former Sharks teammate Josh Morris and Canterbury great James Graham.
"It was an honour to join Royce for part of his amazing journey," Mezzatesta said.
"Royce was tough as nails on the field and continues to inspire in his selfless mission to raise awareness and funds for groundbreaking dementia research.
"We wish Royce all the best for the remainder of his Big Walk and encourage everyone who is able to get behind a tremendous cause."
