Young Sharks forward Jesse Colquhoun will miss the remainder of the 2024 NRL season after rupturing his ACL in the game against the Tigers last Friday night.
In his first appearance in the top grade in 2024 after overcoming a foot problem, the latest injury is another setback for the promising youngster. He will undergo surgery tomorrow (Wednesday).
The 22-year-old Colquhoun debuted for the Sharks during the 2022 season and has played 11 top grade games.
After suffering a foot fracture in the Sharks' pre-season trial match against the Bulldogs, Colquhoun made a return to the field for the Newtown Jets in the Knock On Effect NSW Cup in recent weeks, before receiving the call up to the top grade for the round 19 game with the Tigers.
In a show of faith in Colquhoun’s ability, the Sharks re-signed the former Wollongong junior to a contract extension earlier this year, one which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2026 season.
Colquhoun now joins Kade Dykes and Max Bradbury, also sidelined with season-ending knee injuries, on the long-term injured list.
In other Sharks injury news, Mawene Hiroti is currently unavailable after suffering an eye socket fracture playing for the Jets.
