Young Sharks backrower Jesse Colquhoun has taken the early plea on a dangerous contact charge and will miss the game against the Panthers on Saturday night.
Colquhoun was charged with grade two dangerous contact by the match review committee for an incident in the fifth minute of Sunday’s match involving Manly forward Taniela Paseka, with the charge attracting a one match suspension for an early guilty plea or two weeks were he to have challenged at a judiciary hearing and been unsuccessful in having the charge dismissed.
The tackle in question was charged despite Colquhoun not being penalised during the game by the match officials, or when reviewed by the bunker at the time of the incident.
Colquhoun had come into the Sharks team in place of Teig Wilton who will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
The Sharks will name a replacement when the team is announced later today.
Nicho Hynes has also taken the early plea on a grade one dangerous contact (tripping) charge and will be free to play the Panthers after escaping with a fine.
The incident in question involved Sea Eagles centre Tolutau Koula and occurred in the 12th minute of the first half.
