The Sharks have taken the early guilty plea on a dangerous throw charge levelled against Dale Finucane, with the Sharks co-captain to miss two matches.
Finucane was charged by the NRL's match review committee with a grade one dangerous throw for a tackle on Dragons prop Blake Lawrie in the 19th minute of the Sharks big win over their local rivals, with the charge attracting a penalty of two weeks for an early guilty plea or three weeks on the sidelines were he to have challenged at a judiciary hearing and fail to have the charge dismissed.
The decision has been to accept the two-match ban, with Finucane to be unavailable for Thursday night’s game against the Tigers, then for the trip to New Zealand to tackle the Warriors.
In some good news for the Sharks, Toby Rudolf got through his return match after a lengthy stint on the sidelines with a toe/foot injury, the middle forward playing for the Newtown Jets on Saturday, putting him in the frame for a recall to the NRL squad for this week’s game.
While medical staff are assessing the status of Braden Hamlin Uele who suffered a rib injury in the first half of the Sharks 52-16 victory over the Dragons.
The Sharks have no other injury concerns and will name their team to play the Tigers tomorrow (Tuesday).
