During Sharks Have Heart Round and prior to the game against the Bulldogs last Sunday, Sharks Have Heart confirmed their support of partner sporting clubs in conducting their 2023 Sporting Launch.
Sporting partners in attendance included Sharks Touch, Cronulla Sharks Water Polo, Sharks Baseball, and NRL Wheelchair, with the aim of Sharks Have Heart and the various partnerships to contribute to the continuing health of the sporting sector within the Sutherland Shire.
The Sharks also have partnerships with Sharks Mens Golf, Sharks Ladies Golf, Sharks Netball and Sharks Swimming, with representatives from those clubs unable to attend on the day.
The Sporting Partner Launch was held in the Bunker Bar underneath the ET Stand at PointsBet Stadium before Sunday’s game, with light refreshments and drinks provided. NRL squad members, not involved in the Bulldogs match, including Kade Dykes, Jayden Berrell and Jesse Colquhoun, presented each of the attending clubs with a 2023 signed Sharks NRL jersey.
The sporting clubs utilise the signed jerseys for fundraising activities, for prizegiving or for display purposes.
Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta also addressed the group in thanking them for their involvement with the Cronulla Sharks, with Jessica Macartney, Sharks Head of Community & Government Relations, explaining the motivation behind the sporting partnerships.
“As the highest profile sporting organisation in the Shire, it’s important that we assist and contribute to what is a thriving local sporting sector,” Ms Macartney began.
“We are able to achieve that through the work we do with our sporting partners, while it is also important to acknowledge and appreciate the work they do in the community.”
An MOU between the Sharks and the sporting clubs is drawn up, with a mutual set of deliverables needing to be achieved each year.
Also on Sunday, in completing the week of Sharks Have Heart Round activities, a handful of the sporting partner clubs entertained the crowd with an on-field relay race at half time of the NRL game, with Sharks Netball coming out on top.
