Sharks lock Cameron McInnes will be sidelined for up to four weeks after suffering a broken hand in his team’s win over the Sea Eagles on Sunday.
The injury to McInnes occurred midway through the first half, however the hard-working Sharks forward battled on bravely and completed the game, making 32 tackles, while taking 11 carries for 98 run metres, in 41 minutes of game time.
The injury comes as a blow to both McInnes and to the Sharks ahead of their game against the Knights on Saturday, however in a positive prop Oregon Kaufusi has recovered from the illness which saw him miss the Manly match and is expected to be named in the Cronulla team later today.
Another of the Sharks forwards in Braden Hamlin-Uele is progressing well in his recovery from a medial ligament strain, with his status for this weekend to be decided closer to game day.
In further injury news, Siosifa Talakai continues to battle a neck problem with his availability for the game against Newcastle also yet to be determined.
Toby Rudolf remains on track with his rehabilitation from the toe/foot injury suffered in round five against the Warriors, with his predicted return likely either before or after the Sharks round 17 bye.
