Three Matthews Cup Sharks have been rewarded for strong 2023 seasons with selection in the City under 16’s team to play Country on Saturday, with two Sharks women to take part in the female City v Country matches on Sunday.
Young forwards Thomas Dellow and Kaden Garner will be joined by half back Oliver Lester in the City 16’s, with their selection reward for their performances playing a year-young for a Sharks Matthews Cup team which won its way through to the first week of the competition finals.
All three will be eligible to play Matthews Cup for the Sharks again in 2024.
The under 16 City v Country match will be the first of three to be played at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday, kicking off at 11am.
On Sunday at the same venue, the Sharks will have representatives in both women’s age group matches, with Mikayla Langer named in the City under 17’s squad and Mercydes Metcalf in the under 19’s Country team.
As previously announced, the Sharks will have a strong representation in the open age women’s City- Country match, NRLW signings Quincy Dodd, Tayla Preston Brooke Anderson and Cassie Staples in the City team, with Jada Taylor and Ellie Johnston to play for Country.
