The Jersey Flegg Sharks have fallen just short against a physical Storm outfit, going down by 14-12 in their round nine clash at PointsBet Stadium.

Off the back of their first loss of the season last weekend the Sharks trailed for the entire match, falling behind 10-0 in the first half, before a try from lock and captain Blake Hosking on the stroke of half time saw the teams go to the break with the Storm 10-6 in front.

Two Storm penalty goals kicked the visitors out to an eight-point lead, and in a match with defense dominating, it took until six minutes from fulltime for the Sharks to edge closer, a Ben Lavendar try from a Niwhai Puru kick, converted from close range to make it 14-12, giving them hope of a come from behind victory.

Unfortunately for the young Cronulla side the Melbourne team would control the final minutes of the match to secure the win.

The Flegg Sharks have next weekend off as the under-21 competition breaks for a week, with their next match against the Manly Sea Eagles at 4Pines Park on May 14.
