Sharks centre Jesse Ramien has committed his immediate footballing future to the Sharks in signing a three-year contract extension with the Cronulla club.
Already committed for 2023, with the new season to get underway for the Sharks on Saturday, the new contract means Ramien will remain in the Shire through until at least the end of the 2026 season.
Relieved to have finalised his contract and secured his playing future, Ramien can now look forward to this week’s round one match up with the Rabbitohs.
“I’m pleased to have it all sorted, I love playing here at the Sharks. It’s been like a home away from home from the time I arrived here,” Ramien said. “I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season, we’ve got a tight group and I believe we can do something special this year.”
After a pre-season which has seen Ramien shed some weight and is looking as fit as at any time in his six year NRL career, Ramien aims to be a major contributor to a Sharks team intent on building on their successful 2022 campaign.
The 25-year-old Ramien debuted at the Sharks in 2017, before becoming a regular in the Cronulla backline, playing 20 games during the 2018 season.
Departing in 2019 to play for the Knights, Ramien returned to the Sharks ahead of the 2020 season.
Ramien, a proud Indigenous man from the Wiradjuri mob who played his junior football for the Coonamble Bears, has now played 80 top grade games at the Sharks and 97 NRL games in total, scoring 36 tries.
He has also represented the Indigenous All Stars on three occasions.
Following the recent re-signing of teammates Ronaldo Mulitalo and Siosifa Talakai, with more player retention announcement also hoped for the near future, the new deal for Ramien gives the Sharks class, depth and continuity in their backline for not only 2023 but into the ensuing seasons.
