The Sharks have further boosted their depth in the forwards with the signing of NSW Under 19’s representative Max Bradbury.
The 19-year-old former Knight was granted a release from the final two years of his contract at the Newcastle club and joins the Sharks full time training group after signing a two-year deal.
Quickly adjusting to the change of scenery after arriving at the Sharks late last week, Bradbury has already linked with experienced teammate Dale Finucane and looks forward to learning and developing his game under head coach Craig Fitzgibbon.
"It's a big opportunity for me to start fresh, learn a different perspective on footy,” Bradbury told the Newcastle Herald. “A different coach who I know is very defense-oriented, so it will be good to learn under that and improve my game."
"That's also what pulled me in, being able to learn off some really highly rated middles," he said. "I'm under a lot of smart heads and am just taking it all in. Dale has sort of taken me under his wing, he's been really good,” Bradbury added.
After being a part of the premiership winning Newcastle Matthews Cup side in 2019, Bradbury progressed through the grades at the Knights, to where he was recognised for his efforts with selection in the NSW under-19’s Origin team in 2022.
Bradbury played in the Knights Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup teams last season and although eligible for the under-21 competition again this year is a member of the Sharks fulltime NRL training group and will potentially come into consideration for a place in the Newtown Jets side in 2023.
His new contract at the Sharks is for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
