Braydon Trindall and Franklin Pele have both taken the early guilty plea after being charged by the match review committee for incidents in the Sharks trial match against the Panthers and will be unavailable for the start of the 2022 NRL season.
Trindall was charged with a grade two Careless High Tackle and will miss two matches, Pele with a grade one Shoulder Charge, with the young prop facing a one-game suspension.
The ban comes as a blow in particular for Trindall who was fighting for a place in the Sharks halves for their round one match against the Raiders.
The match review charge on Trindall came following a tackle on young Panther Thomas Jenkins in the 10th minute of the match. It attracted 225 points for an early plea, meaning a two-game ban, with Trindall to have 25 carry over points for any subsequent indiscretions. Were he to have challenged and be unsuccessful at a judiciary hearing, Trindall could have faced three games on the sidelines.
In relation to Pele, his shoulder charge was the 69th minute of the trial match on Eels backrower Jaemon Salmon. Pele accepted the 150-point penalty, meaning a one game ban and had he challenged and been unsuccessful the 200 point penalty would have meant a two-game suspension.
Pele will have 50 carry over points which would be added to any future charges.
Both Trindall and Pele will be available to play in Monday's trial match against the Bulldogs, with the suspensions to be served once the NRL season gets underway.
