The Sharks Board of Directors has been boosted by the addition of two highly-credentialled business leaders in Morry Waked and Madeline Tynan, with the pair to fill the existing board appointed and casual vacancy positions.
Mr Waked, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Vinva, an independent investment management firm, and Ms Tynan, Director at Tynan Motor Group, add their considerable insight to the already strong skill set of the current Sharks board.
Ms Tynan, a long-term corporate supporter of the Cronulla club, will fill the casual Board position whilst Mr Waked, who currently sits as an independent advisor on the Club’s Investment Sub-Committee, has been Board appointed to the full-time appointed vacancy.
Sharks Chairman Steve Mace welcomed the addition of the two new Board members and was confident they were the right fit to enhance the Club’s overall business strategies moving forward.
“Securing the expertise of Morry and Madeline is not only a major coup for the Club but for the game of rugby league. To attract this level of talent is a testament to all involved at the Club,” Mr Mace said.
“I look forward to working closely with Morry and Madeline to deliver further value to the Club and to our Members.”
In profiling the two Board appointees, Ms Tynan is considered by many to be an inspirational industry leader, someone instrumental in developing the Tynan Motor Group into one of Australia’s most successful private companies, with annual turnover in excess of $500 million.
Thriving in the demanding nature of the automotive industry, Ms Tynan’s success and business acumen was recognised with her been named a finalist in the 2017 NSW Women of the Year Awards, while she is also highly respected for her philanthropic efforts, having worked alongside and in support of many worthy community causes, including establishing the Michael Tynan Challenge to support medical research.
In relation to Mr Waked, a passionate Sharks member and supporter, following a successful international career where he was Global Head of Equity Investments for the world’s largest investment firm headquartered in the US, he then started Vinva, an independent investment management firm, in 2010.
Vinva has grown to managing $30 billion of assets for various government entities and some of Australia’s largest superannuation funds. Mr Waked is a proven industry leader with an impressive track record of innovation.
The two new appointees will commence their duties on the Sharks Board of Directors effective immediately.
