Having slipped behind this weekend's opponents the Knights in the race for a Finals berth, Sunday's game at the Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe becomes crucial for the Sharks in their quest for a Finals berth.
In a disappointing result, the Sharks went down by 18-16 to the Warriors last Saturday afternoon and in the process dropped from seventh to 10th on the NRL ladder, two points behind the Raiders, Titans and Knights as five teams battle for the last two places in the 2021 Finals series.
Sharks coach Josh Hannay, although with limited options due to injuries and unavailability affecting his 2021 playing roster, has made a couple of changes to the run-on team for the game this weekend.
Will Chambers has been omitted from the 17, the Sharks centre named on the extended reserves list, causing something of a reshuffle to the line up.
Into Chambers centre position comes Siosifa Talakai, Jack Williams slots into the back row, Braden Hamlin-Uele has been promoted into the starting side at prop, with Toby Rudolf moving back to lock.
On the interchange bench youngster Luke Metcalf has been selected in jersey 14, with Billy Magoulias promoted into the 17.
Mawene Hiroti is in the 21 after breaking his hand two weeks ago, as is newcomer Kai O'Donnell, the former Raider having joined the Sharks on a short term contract late last week.
O'Donnell played four games in the NRL for the Canberra Raiders in 2020 before being released to return to the Queensland Cup and the Mackay Cutters midway through the 2021 season.
Matt Moylan remains unavailable due to a calf injury, as is Royce Hunt who returned to Sydney last weekend for the birth of his first child. Teig Wilton has a hamstring strain and was another not considered for selection.
The Sharks and Knights match is scheduled for a 4.05pm kick off at the Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe as the second game of a double header.
