Tolman to miss Bulldogs clash

After accepting the early plea on a high tackle charge, experienced Sharks forward Aiden Tolman will miss just his second game of the 2021 season when the Sharks play the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Tolman was charged with a grade one careless high tackle on young Raiders fullback Xavier Savage in the 56th minute of the game against the Raiders last weekend.

The charge attracted a base penalty of 175 points, 140 with the early guilty plea, and with Tolman also having 35 carry over points from a previous incident, he would have risked two weeks on the sideline had he challenged and lost at a judiciary hearing.

Now in accepting the charge, Tolman will miss one match and have 40 carryover points to be added to any further indiscretions.

Sunday will be just the second game Tolman will miss so far in the 2021 season, ironically, both matches have been against his former club the Bulldogs.

Tolman played 222 NRL games for the Bulldogs in 10 seasons before joining the Sharks in 2021.

Sharks coach Josh Hannay has the option of moving Braden Hamlin-Uele into his starting side, while middle forwards Andrew Fifita, Royce Hunt and Billy Magoulias are fit, available for selection and ready to step up and into the 17-man squad for what shapes as a crucial game against the Bulldogs this weekend.

The Sharks team to play the Bulldogs will be named later today.
