Sharks Have Heart charity partner One Meal - Sutherland Shire, continues to carry out their outstanding work in the community despite the challenges of the COVID lock down.

A not-for-profit organisation that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless, disenfranchised, vulnerable and at-risk members of our local communities, One Meal enlists the assistance of local organisations in providing their extremely important service.

One of those to lend a hand in the past week was Sharks at Kareela and their popular in-house restaurant The Cove Bar and Grill, despite both currently being shut down due to the COVID restrictions.

In an initiative inspired by Sharks Have Heart, earlier this week Gina and her team from The Cove provided 30 complimentary meals to One Meal in an effort to ease the burden on those doing it tough during these difficult times.

The Cove’s talented chef’s cooked up a healthy and tasty chicken curry, which was certainly appreciated by One Meal and those they look after.

“Huge thanks, appreciation and gratefulness to the team from Pellegrini's Italian and Cove Bar Grill at Sharks at Kareela for stepping in and helping us by providing tonight’s main meal of penne chicken pasta, and chicken curry with veggies,” One Meal said on it’s Facebook page.

“Over 55 meals were given out tonight and it is all thanks to these wonderful kitchens.”

These community meals are deemed Essential Services in providing support to people in need, with all services conducted according to strict COVID safe guidelines.

“Thanks from Sharks Have Heart to Gina and The Cove for jumping in and helping us to support One Meal,” Sharks General Manager of Community, People and Culture, George Nour said. “One Meal does some great work in the community, we are pleased to be able to continue our support and are proud to be associated with them.”

On Tuesday as another gesture of community support, The Cove Bar and Grill also offered complimentary takeaway meals to football and Sharks at Kareela club staff and their families.
