A desperate opponent, against a Sharks side which didn’t manage to take advantage of their opportunities, saw the Cronulla team go down to the Brisbane Broncos in a disappointing performance last Sunday.
The Sharks created enough chances to claim the points, however in the final wash up weren’t good enough on the day and now head into a round 17 clash with the Warriors needing a win to remain in entrenched in the top eight as they push for a finals berth.
Despite the loss the Sharks remained in eighth position, level with the Knights and Cowboys but ahead with a superior for-and-against, and just two points clear of a chasing pack which includes the Titans, Raiders and this weekend’s opponents the Warriors.
In team changes, with Matt Moylan unavailable as a result of the calf he injury suffered in the warmup prior to the Broncos game, Sharks coach Josh Hannay has switched Connor Tracey to five eighth, with Will Chambers to return in the centres.
Tracey had filled in for Chambers last weekend in the left centre position.
Teig Wilton, after a strong performance in the back row has retained his place in the run-on side.
Braydon Trindall, Shaun Johnson’s halves partner for last weekend’s match, shifts back to the interchange as the bench utility, with talented youngster Luke Metcalf included on the extended reserves list for the first time this season.
The Sharks and Warriors match is set down for a 4.00pm kick off on Sunday at Netstrata, with the two 21-man squads listed below.
Sharks media will communicate information as to crowds and potential restrictions once they become available.
