HNWP Sharks off to an impressive start

The Sharks have sounded a warning shot to the rest of the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership contenders in registering a resounding 54-6 thumping of Souths in their round one match on Saturday played at PointsBet Stadium.

Displaying both power and precision in the 10 try rout, outside backs Kiana Takairangi and Zali Fay, along with hooker Quincy Dodd and back rower Talei Holmes all notching try-scoring doubles, the Sharks were impressive in the resounding victory.

Conceding the first try to Souths in just the seventh minute, few could have predicted what was to come, with the Sharks asserting their dominance in racing to a 28-6 half time advantage.

With incoming coach Tony Herman managing to keep his team’s minds on the job the Sharks girls went about their business again in the second period, five more tries and the final 48-point margin a clear indication of the difference between the two teams.

Fielding a side featuring a host of women’s rugby league stars, including the likes of skipper Corban McGregor, fullback Tiana Penitani and half back Maddie Studdon and others, the Sharks have an abundance of talent and will be looking to produce more of the same when they take on Mounties in a round two match scheduled for Monday, March 22 at Aubrey Keech Reserve.
