Steelers too good for Sharks in Tarsha clash

The Tarsha Gale Sharks were no match for a red-hot Illawarra Steelers side, going down by 44-4 in their round six clash on Saturday.

Facing the undefeated Steelers on their home turf at the Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong, the Sharks were blown away in the first half to trial 28-0, score that could have been greater with the Cronulla girls denying their opponents further points with dogged try-saving efforts.

The Sharks came out after the break with a more determined approach and were rewarded with their only points of the game, centre Chloe Boston scoring out wide after some enterprising lead up play.

As some sort of consolation the Sharks won the third stanza leading into the mandatory drinks break in keeping the Steelers scoreless, however the Illawarra girls would go on with the job and record a comfortable win, their fifth from as many games in the 2021 season.

Sitting sixth on the ladder, with two wins and three losses so far, the Sharks now need a strong finish over their closing three games should they hope to qualify for the six-team Tarsha Gale finals series.
