The first trial match featuring a team close to the one the Sharks will run out against the Bulldogs to kick off the season in two weeks’ time, will headline a weekend where all teams from the NRL down to the 16’s Academy, will be in action.
The NRL Sharks v Bulldogs, scheduled for a Saturday 6pm kick off at Netstrata Jubilee, will be one of three games at the Kogarah venue, the Sharks Tarsha Gale, Matthews Cup and SG Ball teams play round four matches at PointsBet Stadium, while the boys 16’s and 18’s Academy sides, as well as the Sharks Harvey Norman Women’s squad, will also take the field this weekend.
However, while the focus will be on John Morris’s NRL squad and how they fare in their trail against the Bulldogs, Saturday shapes as just as important for the two games which will precede the main match at Netstrata.
The Jersey Flegg Sharks kick off the afternoon at 2.00pm in their final hit out prior to the start of their season when they play the Bulldogs, while the Newtown Jets, the Sharks partner club in the NSW Cup, face Mounties in an important trial match outing.
Across town at PointsBet, the Sharks play for competition points in the three junior rep competitions, with the Matthews and Ball teams looking for some consistency after up and down starts to their seasons.
The Tarsha Gale girls on the other hand have notched two impressive wins from as many games and will be keen to continue on their winning way when they host Newcastle.
While in two games which are crucial in providing quality competition and continued development for the young up and coming players in the Sharks system, both the under-16’s and under-18’s Academy teams also have matches scheduled.
And before the weekend is over, the Harvey Norman Women’s Sharks play on Sunday in a trial at Leichhardt Oval, with their season also just two weeks away.
