They took in the sights and attractions of the region, visited the C.ex Coffs International Stadium, with a delegation from the Sharks on hand to help officially launch their round 12 clash with the Titans which is set to kick off in Coffs Harbour on May 30.
Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta, skipper Wade Graham, 2021 assistant coach and club legend Luke Lewis, along with representatives from the marketing, commercial and media departments, joined local dignitaries and NRL officials on the NSW North Coast earlier today.
“Presented with this opportunity from the NRL it took little convincing for Board and management to take up the offer,” Mezzatesta said in addressing the media launch. “It’s a beautiful part of the world, with passionate rugby league supporters in a regional heartland.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for the Sharks to play in front of our regional fans, those who might not otherwise be able to watch our team play in person.
“It allows us to expand our brand and to hopefully win over a few more fans on the NSW North Coast and in south-east Queensland and I’m almost certain plenty of Sharks members and supporters from Sydney will travel up to support their team and enjoy a weekend on the NSW North Coast,” he added.
Also present at the media launch was Coffs Harbour Deputy Mayor Cnr George Cecato, the NRL’s Head of Football Graham Annesley and local members of parliament Gurmesh Singh and Dugald Saunders who is a part of the NRL’s regional taskforce.
Following the official duties the Sharks took in the sights, stopping by the ‘Big Banana’, Graham and Lewis got their feet wet in trying out some paddle boarding, while the delegation inspected the C.ex Coffs International Stadium, the venue for the round 12 match.
