NRL Team List - Sharks v Rabbitohs

There is a new name in the 13 jersey, a debutant on the bench, one brother is gone and another replaces him and a local junior returns to the club after a couple of seasons away, with the Sharks 21-man squad revealed ahead of their round one clash with the Rabbitohs on Saturday.

The Sharks have also been forced to ask for dispensation to include Jackson Ferris from their development players list in their 21 due to the injury crisis affecting their outside backs.

Ferris trialled in both PNG and against Manly and scored the winning try in the Newtown Jets State Championship victory in the match played on Grand Final day last year.

In Sharks round one team news, Jack Williams has claimed the starting lock position, coming into the Cronulla side following the retirement of long-time skipper Paul Gallen, while Connor Tracey has won the bench utility spot following an outstanding off-season and some impressive form in the trials.

Hailing from the De La Salle Caringbah club and primarily a half-five eighth, Tracey could be required to play some time at hooker, with Blayke Brailey, brother of the departed Jayden, taking over at number nine.

But perhaps most excited upon hearing of his inclusion in the Sharks 17 was forward Toby Rudolf, with the 24-year-old set to make his NRL debut.

A Souths junior, Rudolf spent some time in the Queensland Cup before joining the Sharks ahead of the 2019 season. A knee injury kept him sidelined until late in the year, with Rudolf on return to the field playing an important role for the Newtown Jets in their Canterbury Cup success.

The Sharks and Souths are scheduled to kick off at 5.30pm at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, with the Sharks round one team listed below.
