Sharks Statement - Fine Kula

The Sharks can relay some sad news, with young forward Fine Kula diagnosed with a serious illness.

The 20-year-old Kula, who was the NSWRL Matthews Cup Player of the Year in 2015 and a part of the Sharks championship-winning Jersey Flegg team in 2018,  graduated through the grades since joining the Club as a 15-year-old, to where he trained with the fulltime NRL group prior to Christmas.

He is receiving the best possible care in Liverpool Hospital after tests have revealed he is suffering from brain cancer.

The Sharks are offering their full support to Kula and his family at this difficult time, with details being worked through, in consultation with the Men of League Foundation, regarding fundraising activities aimed at assisting with the on-going costs associated with his treatment.

The Cronulla Club, NRL coaching staff and the playing group are rallying around Kula and his family, with Sharks welfare staff also providing support and assistance.

Further news will be relayed to Sharks fans once it becomes available.
