The Sharks have an opportunity to return to the top spot on the Jersey Flegg ladder when they tackle the Roosters in a first v second clash at PointsBet Stadium on Saturday.

A loss to the Dragons, coupled with a narrow Roosters victory over Newcastle, saw the Sharks surrender the competition lead last weekend, with the minor premiership up for grabs when the two teams meet this weekend.

With a squad missing a handful of their regulars, the Sharks failed to match an enthusiastic Dragons side on Sunday, the 38-18 loss giving the indication that Daniel Holdsworth’s team has plenty of work still to do should they hope to defend the under20’s crown which they claimed in 2018.

The Sharks were well and truly in the contest against the Dragons, going to half time with the scores level at 12-all, however the second half went pear-shaped as their opponents’ ran away with the win.

The Sharks and Roosters have met once previously this season, the Cronulla side notching a narrow 8-6 win in a round five match played with plenty of intensity.

Kick-off to the Jersey Flegg Sharks v Roosters match will be at 12.35pm, with gates to PointsBet Stadium to open at 12.30pm.
