The Sharks have extended the contract of Jack Williams, with the young back rower signing a new three-year deal with the Cronulla club.

Williams, who joined the Sharks in 2017 after playing his junior rep and under-20’s football with the Canberra Raiders, was already contracted through 2019 and 2020, but with this contract extension has now committed to the club until at least the end of the 2022 season.

Arriving in the Shire following a year in which he was named the Raiders NYC Player of the Year, Williams continued his rugby league education while training with the Sharks top squad and playing the 2017 season at the Newtown Jets.

Last year he was selected the make his debut, that first game ironically coming at GIO Stadium in Canberra against the Raiders, with his hard running and aggressive style seeing Williams subsequently become a regular in the Sharks NRL squad.

Unfortunately, a pectoral tear cut short his 2018 season after just four top grade appearances, however another solid pre-season campaign saw him win selection in the Sharks 17 for round one, with Williams going on to play all 11 games to date this year.

Enjoying life in the Sutherland Shire and at the Sharks, Williams was excited to have his future secured for this and for the next two seasons.

“I’m loving my time here, especially with some of the young fellas and the combinations we’re building. I’m excited for the next couple of years and can’t wait to get out onto the field this week.” Williams said.

Sharks Media caught up with Williams after the 22-year-old put pen to paper on his new contract. See what he had to say, now playing on Sharks TV.
