A 20-all draw, following on from three wins in succession, has the Newtown Jets in a confident frame of mind heading into their round 13 Canterbury Cup clash against the Wentworthville Magpies at Henson Park on Saturday.
The Jets continued their push towards a spot in the top eight after escaping with one competition point in their match with the Warriors, the draw coming courtesy of a late try and Braydon Trindall conversion.
The challenge however steps up a level this week when they host a Wentworthville team which ran out convincing winners over the Jets in their only meeting so far this season.
On that occasion back in round four the Magpies dominated the Newtown side in cruising to a 42-10 victory.
While the Jets are on the outside looking in, sitting ninth on the ladder, Wentworthville are currently entrenched in the eight and in sixth position three points clear of Newtown heading into this weekend’s game.
The Newtown v Wentworthville match is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick-off at Henson Park on Saturday, with the Jets team listed below.
