Canterbury Cup Team List - Jets v Dragons

A win over the Sea Eagles last Sunday, following on from a victory over Souths at their previous outing, has the Newtown Jets travelling to Wollongong this weekend with a renewed confidence after what was a slow start to their 2019 season.

Newtown managed eight tries in a 44-28 triumph over Blacktown Workers and with a number of key personnel slotting back into the side as players return to the Sharks NRL squad, the Jets are set to field a strong 17 for Sunday’s game against the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Experienced hooker Craig Garvey played 40-minutes in the win over Blacktown and has been named in jersey 19 for what would be his second game in Newtown colours. Last week he substituted for the versatile Billy Magoulias who went back to his preferred lock forward position.

The return from injury of live wire five-eighth Jack Williams has also been an asset to the Jets in their last two matches, his halves combination with youngster Brayden Trindall building nicely.

The Jets and Dragons Canterbury Cup clash will be the curtain-raiser to the Sharks-Dragons local derby NRL match-up. Kick-off in the Canterbury Cup is at 1.50pm.
