Sharks fans have voted, and the results are in!
Halfback Chad Townsend has edged out Kyle Flanagan by the narrowest of margins to take out the sharks.com.au Round 8 Man of the Match award once voting ended.
It was a tale of the two halves with just 1% of votes separating the pair, a clear indication of the impact both had on Friday night’s result.
It was another dominant performance from our No.7 as Chad controlled the game with his kicking and made a number of strong defensive efforts.
Kyle Flanagan, even though playing in just his third NRL match, looked like a seasoned veteran showing Sharks and football fans alike why he is considered such a talent.
The two halves kicked intelligently, defended stoutly and competed hard on every play, working together to complete 20 out of 20 sets in the second half to get their side the 2-points.
Rounding out the top three was boom rookie Briton Nikora, who continues to be a mainstay in our ‘Fan Poll’ each week.
Our young back-rower was unknown to most outside of the club and those avid rugby league fans before this season, but he’s now one of most exciting prospects in the game.
Apart from scoring a try himself, where he regathered a perfect Flanagan kick to cross the stripe, Brit also ran strongly, produced offloads and hit with vigour in defence.
FANS ROUND 8 MAN OF THE MATCH | Chad Townsend 31%
2nd Place – Kyle Flanagan 30%
3rd Place – Briton Nikora 11%
