Following a stirring comeback win over the Panthers the Sharks travel to Brisbane this weekend to take on a Broncos side desperate for victory following a unexpected slow start to their 2019 season.
The Sharks came from 14-points down in the second half in their win against the Panthers, however they will need to lift another gear when they face a Broncos side on Saturday night which has copped a barrage of criticism for their performances so far this year.
Sharks coach John Morris has shown faith in last week’s debutant Will Kennedy in retaining the youngster at fullback, with John Dugan chosen on the wing.
The mix of Kennedy at the back and the combination of Dugan and Bronson Xerri on the Sharks right hand side, proved to be a successful move, with Dugan putting his young teammate away for a long range try, before Xerri returned the favour with the last pass for the match-winner.
Missing from the Sharks line up is young gun Briton Nikora, the back rower suspended for a lifting tackle in the first half of the Panthers game, with the versatile and reliable Scott Sorensen named to take his place in the starting side this weekend.
Otherwise the Sharks win run out with a team almost identical to the one which got the points last Thursday.
The Sharks travel to Brisbane on Friday, with the match against the Broncos scheduled for a 7.30pm kick-off at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
