Flegg Sharks start strong

The Jersey Flegg Sharks have continued their impressive start to the 2019 season in beating the Victorian Thunderbolts 40-6 in their round three match on Saturday.

The defending Jersey Flegg champions, the Sharks backed up their first up victory over the North Sydney Bears, this time completely out-pointing their opponents in another impressive performance.

The Sharks fell behind early when the Thunderbolts crossed in the first five minutes, but it was all one way traffic from there, the Cronulla side notching eight tries in the win.

Going to the break 20-6 in front, two tries in the opening 10 minutes of the second period sealed the result.

Back rower Tom Caughlan scored twice, with halfback Braydon Trindall, returning to the Flegg side after playing for the Newtown Jets in the Canterbury Cup the previous week, recording  a try and four goals in the Sharks win.

On top of the Flegg ladder and one of three teams to have won both of their opening two matches, the Sharks next assignment is a game against the Parramatta Eels.

That match is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick off at McCredie Park.
