Despite letting a 16-point second half lead slip, the Newtown Jets didn't go home completely empty-handed, with the 28-all draw with the North Sydney Bears and the one competition point keeping them in third position on the Intrust Super Premiership ladder.
The Jets got off to a slow start, with the Bears first on the board, but from there the Newtown boys took control, building a 28-12 advantage midway through the second half.
From there the Bears stormed home, a sideline conversion locking up the scores with only two minutes of the match remaining.
While seemingly well placed the ISP top eight is extremely congested, making the match against Wentworthville an important one on Sunday.
The Jets can stay on track for a top four-finish with a win, but could potentially slip down the ladder with a loss.
The game is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick off at Ringrose Park on Sunday.
