Former Tradies General Manager Tim McAleer began work today as the new Sharks Leagues Club Chief Executive Officer.
On behalf of the Club and the Board of Directors, Interim CEO Paul Eriksson was pleased to announce the appointment of McAleer and was confident in his ability to drive the Sharks Leagues Club business in a positive direction.
“We welcome Tim to the Sharks and have no doubt he will make a considerable contribution to our business and our Leagues Club operations,” Mr Eriksson said.
“Tim has proven to be a very successful operator in the club industry over a long period of time and we are extremely pleased to have him on board.”
McAleer also brings with him his two most senior managers from the Tradies in Lisa Wilkinson in the role of Operations Manager and Elie Bassil as Business Development Manager, with the trio having now commenced their employment at the Sharks.
“The three of us have been very much welcomed by Chairman Dino Mezzatesta and the Board and I am finding a very warm welcome from the staff,” McAleer told the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader earlier today. “They are very aware of the successful track record of our team and we are looking forward to working with them.”
McAleer, in charge of Tradies for the last 17 years, arrives at the Sharks after helping to grow the club to 54,000 members and with premises in Gymea, Caringbah and Helensburgh, into the Sutherland Shire’s largest club and he sees similar opportunities for growth and development here at the Sharks.
“Lisa has worked with me for 17 years, Elie for 10 and we share values which are important to us personally and will also be important to the Sharks. Just as I am, they are excited about their career opportunities here at the Sharks,” McAleer said.
“The opportunities here are limitless. It’s a club going forward, with a Board of Directors who have a strategic plan to provide things the Shire needs,” McAleer said. “I believe it’s a club with the future of the Shire at heart and I’m excited to play a role in helping to create that future.”
While McAleer will steer the Leagues Club operations, an appointment has yet to be made in relation to a Football Club CEO.
