It was the Sharks first hit-out as defending premiers and the first match of the 2017 NRL season.
Southern Cross Group Stadium was still buzzing from that fateful night in October, but the Sharks would face a tough test against a side considered one of the competition heavyweights in the Brisbane Broncos.
There were a couple of new faces in the side, having come from other clubs during the off-season, or on debut having worked their way through the ranks.
It wouldn't be the start that the Sharks were after, ultimately going down 26-18 in front of a vocal home crowd, but it was an exicting contest that went right down to the final minutes.
