Fans can look forward to another thrilling night of Rugby League when the Cronulla Sharks take on the North Queensland Cowboys this Thursday night at Southern Cross Group Stadium (SCGS).
The Sharks have partnered with Recognise and Beanies for Brain Cancer to celebrate this season’s Indigenous Round.
SCGS will open its gates at 5:00pm as the NYC Sharks and Cowboys prepare to kick off at 5:05. Our young Sharks will be looking to claw their way up the ladder and to redeem themselve after suffering a loss 28 – 35 to North Queensland last season.
The grounds will be buzzing with DJs, drummers, mascots, face painting and a Sharks slide! A platter of food trucks and kiosks will set up camp to satisfy your every craving. Expect coffee, German sausages, burgers, sausage sizzles, cheese toastees, pizza, ice cream and more!
At 6:40pm, the Sharks’ Women’s Series Side will go head to head with Manly Junior District Rugby League in what is bound to be a tight encounter. The Women in the Black, Blue and White are determined to clench their fourth win, while Manly will be looking to capitalise on a notably reshuffled Sharks outfit.
Pre-game entertainment will get underway at 7:10pm, with a spectacle of Junior Rugby League, the Dab Cam, dazzling Cronulla Sharks Mermaids performances hosted by MC Dane Wheeler.
Spectators and players will then unite for an Acknowledgement of Country by Deanna Schreiber, Chairperson of Kurranulla Aboriginal Corporation. Indigenous Elder, Col Hardy OAM will perform ‘I Am Australian’ and students from the Endeavour Sports High Clontarf Academy will showcase a Didgeridoo performance.
Mark Hughes and Matt Callandar will join us for an on-field interview to talk all things Beanies for Brain Cancer. In honour of the initiative, both NRL sides will run onto the field donning beanies before kicking off at 7:55pm.
The half time buzzer will sound at 8:40pm and SCGS will heat up with energetic Mermaids and 67 Crew performances. Spectators can reflect on the first half whilst enjoying four more games of Junior Rugby League.
Full time will be called at 9:35pm and kids will kit the field at 9:45pm. In true Sharks Game Day form, the fun will continue next door at the Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club.
