The Cronulla Sharks and Cronulla-Sutherland Junior Rugby League are preparing to kick off an exciting year of Junior Rugby League (JRL).
Registrations for JRL have now opened for the 2017 season, and Cronulla-Sutherland Junior Rugby League has already seen an impressive increase in numbers. With 14 JRL clubs in the Sutherland Shire, both boys and girls can easily join the region’s fastest growing sport.
‘SafePlay’ JRL rules are set to ensure a more inclusive, free-flowing and friendly game for all. The modifications also aim to foster the development of overall game involvement for all levels, both on and off the field.
The under 6 – 8’s will play Mini Football, a version that focuses on rewarding players for their efforts, rather than penalising players for any mistakes. Mini Football players will also enjoy more game time and opportunities with the ball.
The under 9 – 12’s will also play a modified version of the game with Safeplay rules in place.
2017 is bound to bring an exciting season of JRL in the Shire. With over 4000 active participants across the region’s 14 clubs, there are plenty of opportunities for members of the community to coach, referee and volunteer.
JRL players will also have the chance to meet Cronulla Sharks players and play games at Southern Cross Group Stadium throughout the 2017 NRL season.
