World Club Challenge opponents, the Wigan Warriors have been successful in their Super League opening clash.

Taking on the Salford Red Devils, the reigning English champions were victorious on the night 26-16 away.

A first half doub;e to Oliver Gildart put the Warriors in a strong position early, tries to Joe Burgess, George Williams and Joel Tomkins taking Wigan into the break 26-0.

Not to be outdone, Salford fought back to get within 10 points however Wigan would hold on for a first start victory.

The Round 1 clash will be the final hit out for the Warriors before the World Club Challenge on Sunday, February 21.
