A committed Jets fightback was rewarded with a 28-22 win over the Bulldogs last Friday night, with Newtown moving into second place on the Intrust Super Premiership table after the completion of round six matches.
The Jets trailed 18-0 on the stroke of half time, however tries either side of the break to Josh Cleeland then Jacob Gagan had the Jets back on track as they went on to record their fourth win of the season.
When added to a drawn result from the opening round the Jets are now on nine competition points, behind only Mounties after the first six games of the 2016 season.
Jets coach Greg Matterson has been able to name a reasonably settled Jets side for their next assignment, which sees the Newtown team head south to Wollongong to tackle the Illawarra Cutters on Saturday.
After impressing in the win over the Bulldogs Mitch Brown has been retained at fullback after playing on the wing in the earlier rounds, while Matterson will be hoping for another strong performance from five eighth Cleeland, the scorer of two tries in the Jets last start victory.
Cleeland was recognised for his efforts by being named in the ISP team of the week.
In all 10 Sharks contracted players have been selected to play for the Jets this weekend.
The Jets v Cutters clash is scheduled for a 3:00pm kick-off at WIN Stadium on Saturday.
