Small in stature but big of heart, Tommy Bishop was a giant in terms of his influence on the Cronulla club during its formative years.
As captain-coach of the Sharks in the 1973 Grand Final, Bishop took the club within a whisker of their first premiership title in one of the fiercest games ever played.
Hailing from St Helens in the United Kingdom, Bishop made his first top-flight appearance for the Sharks in 1969, and spent five seasons at the club - although he did not feature in 1972.
The wily halfback snapped his achilles in the latter stages of 1971, and did not return until the start of the 1973 season - a year that was, at the time, Cronulla's most successful in it's short history.
Retiring from playing at the end of the 1973 season, Bishop pursued his love for the game as a coach and went on to re-link with the Sharks as their Head Coach in 1980.
The Great Britain International was rewarded for his efforts when named one of the Sharks Immortals in 2005, and remains a staunch supporter of the club.
