The 15th placed NYC Sharks take on a Rabbitohs team sitting in 13th in a match sure to be keenly contested as both sides look to climb off the bottom of the competition ladder.
The young Sharks lost a heartbreaker last round when conceding a late try in going down by just four-points to the Newcastle Knights, the second time in 2015 they have had a victory taken from them in the dying moments of a match.
As for the Rabbitohs, a late collapse against the Cowboys in their most recent encounter saw them slip to a fourth loss in six outings, making the visitors equally desperate for a win at Remondis Stadium on Monday night.
While Sharks coach James Shepherd has on the surface resisted the urge to make changes to his 1-5 team, he has named an eight-man bench, leaving his options open as to which players will make his final 17 on Monday.
Shepherd has retained local De La Salle product Ryan Cummins at fullback after a solid debut effort against Newcastle, with regular custodian Josh Addo-Carr selected on the extended interchange bench.
An unlikely pairing at the start of the season, injuries have meant Jamayne Isaako and Jayden Brailey have been thrust into roles the halves for the team to play Souths, however the pair handled their unfamiliar positions well in the match with the Knights and expect more of the same on Monday.
With a long turn-around from the Newcastle match some nine days ago, the young Sharks will have had opportunity to get over the bumps and bruises of the first six rounds and should be primed for a strong performance come Monday night.
Kick off to the NYC match is at 4.45pm, with gates to Remondis Stadium opening at 4.30pm.
