In going down to the Wyong Roos last Saturday the NSW Cup Sharks are now under pressure to qualify for the upcoming finals, with a win this weekend against the North Sydney Bears crucial to their chances.
The Sharks hung in during the first half but were over-run by the Roos in the second when beaten 26-6 at Remondis, with the Wyong side now level in eighth place with Cronulla but trailing on for-and-against.
This week the Sharks take on a North Sydney side which has struggled throughout the 2014 season, however with injuries affecting the Cronulla side nothing will be taken for granted on Saturday afternoon.
While the Sharks will again have a strong contingent of Melbourne players in their side, injuries to NRL squad members has drained the NSW Cup team of depth, with three players from the NYC called in to bolster the Sharks team.
Kurt Drysdale, Jake Goodwin and Winstone Asotasi make up three of the four players named on the Sharks interchange bench.
The Sharks v Bears NSW Cup match is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick off at North Sydney Oval on Saturday.
