The Sharks can announce two new appointments to their NRL coaching team ahead of the 2018 season.
Former international player Jim Dymock and the recently retired John Morris, the Sharks 2017 Holden Cup coach, have been installed as NRL Assistant coaches.
They will replace Steve Price and James Shepherd who have left to explore other coaching opportunities.
The Sharks welcome Dymock back to the club, with the ex-Australian, NSW, Bulldogs and Eels player having worked with current Club Head Coach Shane Flanagan previously as a part of Ricky Stuart’s coaching staff in 2007 and prior to that at the Sydney Roosters.
Dymock, who played six Tests matches for Australia as well as six Origin games for NSW, has been working under Des Hasler as an NRL Assistant coach since 2012.
For Morris, his move from player to coach has brought almost immediate success, with the 300-gamer guiding the Sharks NYC team to the minor premiership in 2017 in just his second season of full-time coaching.
The Holden Cup Sharks were also semi-finalists under the coaching of Morris in 2016.
The pair will be on deck for the start of the Sharks 2018 pre-season beginning in November, with Flanagan excited to be bringing two extremely capable and experienced coaches into his NRL coaching environment.
“I’ve worked with Jimmy before and look forward to renewing our association next season,” Flanagan said. “He has great knowledge of the game, has an astute football mind and an excellent coaching background.
“As for John Morris, I’ve seen how hard he works as a player and then over the past two seasons as a coach. He has had some outstanding results with our NYC team and with developing our young players and he will be a great asset to our NRL coaching team,” Flanagan said.
